Gabrielle Aplin "Salvation" Official Music Video

Late last year I had the pleasure of working with the lovely Gabrielle Aplin. Gabby was very keen to feature dance as the core element of the film. Working alongside dancer and choreographer Mark Farrant we wanted the performance and choreography to feel very emotive while alluding to this idea of Gabby coming through some sort of unknown dark time and into the light.

It was a very cathartic process for me as it was my first music video where the track was a ballad. Thus a great opportunity for me to explore another side of my filmmaking. The dancing and performance were really key in creating a powerful video in this divinely weird no-mans land location over near Beckton.

Hope you like it!

It also recently made the MTV playlist.

Njena Reddd Foxxx video coming soon

Here is a little behind the scenes pic from the soon to be released music video for Njena Reddd Foxx. SHE IS AWESOME BTW!

Got me a nomination at the UKMVA for my Tiny Dancer video

Ultra brand new act Tiny Dancer delivers a super charged performance in my one take video. Her first ever promo and has viewings of the video currently on 136,410 and soon to be supporting AlunaGeorge. This one is no doubt destined to go far.

Each month the awesome guys at 15Folds ask 15 outstanding creatives to create a GIF on their chosen theme.  This was my response to POWER.

Dressing the Screen Fashion Film Exhibition in Beijing

My film David David was one of the lucky ones to make the selection at the British Councils Dressing The Screen - The Rise of the Fashion Film exhibit.

Friday 13 July 2012

Looking through some old drives today and I came across a few outtakes from the video I made featuring the lovely Jaime Winston for super cool underground band Art Department. These clips didn't make the edit... But I'd thought I'd share a few screen grabs with the world instead of keeping them hidden away on a dusty hard drive. So voila.. might see what else is floating about.

Little Boots Video goes LIVE

It was such a pleasure for me that Vic from Litle Boots got in contact and had been a fan of my fashion films for a while. Vic wanted me to pitch on the Every Night I Sayer A Prayer video. I loved the track and it was exciting to create something very different to any of the videos she has done before. Initially inspired by Paris is Burning we wanted to draw on the performance element and make a more london, and abstract version. In this realm we wanted to create a more conceptual take on a music video. Moving into more of a dance:performance video. The theatre esque vignette's for our sets were based on different stages during a play/performance. For example -the curtains, the green room/waiting room, the actual performance and the after party/contest scene... These tableaus (living pictures) relied on movement happening within the frame coming to life with an amazing cast and amazing performance from Vic! Watch it here. Hope you like it!
